You can win, lose, or push when you place a bet at the online sportsbook. If your bet pushes, it’s a tie between you and the sportsbook, i.e., there’s no winner or loser.

Here’s an example of a push in NFL betting:

The Cincinnati Bengals are a 6-point favorite over the Pittsburgh Steelers.

If you bet on the Bengals to cover the spread, the Bengals must win by at least seven points for your bet to win. If you bet on the Steelers to cover the spread, the Steelers must win the game or lose by five or fewer points for your bet to win. If the Bengals win by exactly six points, your bet is a push, and the sportsbook refunds your stake.

Does a Moneyline Bet Push On a Tie?

Yes, a moneyline pushes if the game ends in a tie.

If you bet on the Bengals’ moneyline (-280) against the Steelers, the Bengals must win the game for your bet to cash. The same goes for a Steelers’ moneyline (+220) bet. If the game ends in a tie after overtime, your moneyline bet pushes, and the sportsbook refunds the stake.

What Happens if a Bet in a Parlay Pushes?

If one or multiple bets within a parlay pushes, you don’t lose the parlay. The pushed bets are disregarded, and the parlay’s odds (and potential payout) are recalculated without the pushed bet(s). Here’s an example of a push within a +777 parlay built from the following bets:

Bengals -6 (-110) vs. Steelers

Seahawks -150 vs. Rams

Eagles -225 vs. Bears

Packers -2.5 (-110) vs. Texans

If all four legs hit, the parlay would pay $438.71 on a $50 bet (including stake). If the Bengals beat the Steelers by exactly six points and the three other legs hit, the parlay’s odds are now +359. The new three-leg parlay would pay $229.80 on a $50 bet. At BetMGM, you can build parlays from one game (with a One Game Parlay) or multiple games across multiple leagues and sports. Visit the sportsbook to view all parlay opportunities, including prop bet parlays.
