How do you cash out on a sportsbook?

One of the most important rules when placing a bet in person at a sportsbook is being responsible for your betting tickets. That piece of paper that the cashier handed to you after placing your bet is the only way to redeem your money. Simply walk with your ticket back to a cashier and they will process your slip.

How Do I Cash Out My Bet at a Sportsbook?

One of the most important rules when placing a bet in person at a sportsbook is being responsible for your betting tickets. That piece of paper that the cashier handed to you after placing your bet is the only way to redeem your money. Simply walk with your ticket back to a cashier and they will process your slip. The dollar amount with your winnings will appear on the screen. The cashier will likely ask you if you would like to re-invest any of these winnings on another bet at that time. If you do not wish to do so, you can decline and the cashier will hand you the full amount of your winnings in cash.

Are There Specific Rules I Should Know About Cashing Out My Bets?

The following rules are taken from FanDuel Sportsbook’s House Rules:

There are two big takeaways from these stipulations. The first is that bettors have up to one year to redeem their winnings. Therefore, if you cannot stick around the sportsbook until the end of the game you bet on, or you placed a futures bet, you have plenty of time to cash in your winning ticket. In addition, winning tickets can be mailed in for redemption. Thus, that brings relief to bettors who may have placed a bet at a sportsbook while on vacation. Simply follow the rules with the mailing instructions on the back of your betting ticket for collection instructions. Winning tickets can also be mailed in for redemption at other sportsbooks. For example, these are the updated cash out rules at William Hill Sportsbook:

Q: How do I mail in my winning or voided futures wagers (physical tickets) to receive a check?

A: Bets placed at a William Hill Sports Book in Nevada, Iowa or New Jersey:

Mail Pay Address: P.O. Box 400070 • Las Vegas, NV 89140-0070

When collecting winning tickets by registered mail, please make a copy of your ticket and take note of the ticket number. You will need to write “Mail Pay” on both sides of ticket. Enclose a self-addressed, stamped envelope (a $2 administrative fee will be charged if a self-addressed stamped envelope is not included) and include the following information (please print):

Name:______________________

City____________________State: ________Zip:________

Phone(____)_________________

Please allow 10 business days for processing.
