Website Review

This DraftKings review may be a bit biased as it's personally my favorite site to play on. However, I'm going to try to keep subjectivity out of the equation and focus on some facts. DraftKings provides a functional website with extremely high prize pools and tons of users. You can always find contests in a variety of sports with a wide array of buy-ins. Most importantly, this website is trustworthy and pays its users. The website is secure using SSL technology and allows for all major forms of payment for deposits. This site is becoming more popular after running nationally televised commercials.

Step 1 – Signup

You can't do any gaming at DraftKings until you signup. Thankfully, it's very easy to do so. Gamers in states that have laws preventing daily gaming will not be allowed to signup. If you're unsure if your state allows daily gaming, visit the Is It Legal? tab above or signup through DraftKings. Note: Your FREE play is automatically provided to you when you click on any of our images or links to signup on draftkings.com. This is an exclusive offer for dailyfantasycafe.com users! DraftKings provides by far and away the strongest promo code in the industry. As with all the daily fantasy cafe sites, to get the highest possible bonus offer, click on any of our links and you will receive $500 in Free games for a Daily Fantasy, which is a match of any other promo code offer you've seen on TV! This is guaranteed and certified by DraftKings. If you're in a state with legal sports betting, you can take advantage of up to an $1,000 deposit match bonus. Just click any of our banners or links to receive this top Draftkings promo code offer. If you still have question, reference our DraftKings promo code fact sheet.

Step 2 – Deposit Money

DraftKings makes depositing speedy and easy. You'll be directed to the deposit page immediately after signing up. On the deposit screen, you'll be presented with deposit options for $25, $100, $250, $600 and an "Other" field where you can deposit any dollar amount from $5.00 up to $2,000 (there is an option to fax in information to increase the maximum deposit limit). First-time depositors will receive a FREE $3 ticket to play in any $3 paid contest, which matches the highest offer you've seen...guaranteed. In order to unlock any offers, make sure to read all details, so you're aren't caught off guard by requirements. Deposits can be made using every major credit card and PayPal at draftkings.com.

Step 3 – Pick a Contest

Picking a contest is a little bit different from prior years, mainly because there have been new ways to play, and more sports added. The top tab will list all your sports to help you narrow down, but the featured tab also has the best contest selections across all on-going sports. Clicking on a specific sport will bring you to the contests page where you can further breakdown your search by the entry fee, contest type, and game styles. A sortable table can further your look for a specific contest. The advanced filter can narrow your search by field size, and also by guaranteed prize pools. With more sports and game styles, it can be a bit cluttered, so using the filters is recommended.

Contest Selections

There are two categories for contests when it comes to daily fantasy sports, cash games and tournaments. Tournaments can also be called GPPs (Guaranteed Prize Pools). Cash games include head-to-head games, 50/50s, and double-ups. Tournaments have a lesser chance of cashing, but a higher chance of payouts. You can also add in multipliers, satellites, and qualifiers to the tournaments list. Cash games will usually payout 50% of the field, or very close to it. Tournaments will payout 20-30%, although there are some winners take all tournaments. Single entry and three entry max tournaments have blossomed over the last year or so, and attempt to even the playing field to eliminate max entry players. You can find these tournaments in a number of entry fee ranges, and also across all sports.

Roster Formats

DraftKings differentiate themselves a bit from the other sites' roster formats, which is good for the industry as a whole. NBA is where you can see some different moves, like having a guard, forward, and utility spot. This gives you the ability to be a little more creative. DraftKings also has multi-position eligibility. James Harden could be your point guard or shooting guard depending on where you play him. This is different from most other sites. Sports, like baseball and hockey, also have position eligibility. Baseball is a sport where DraftKings has made a handful of moves over the season. They have always been a two-pitcher site, and have flirted with utility spots in MLB, but have recently gone away with it. There has never been a kicker spot in the standard formats on DraftKings, and they set the tone with a FLEX spot for daily fantasy football. As for golf, DraftKings gives you six spots to fill within a salary cap. It doesn't look like they will be moving away from that any time soon, as it works for other sports like MMA and NASCAR.

Showdown Slate

Showdown Slates are now a way to play fantasy sports within one sports game. For instance, a Sunday Night Football game is one of the main Showdown Slates, but DraftKings runs it for other sports as well as the NBA. Your roster is made up of FLEX players, and a Captains Spot, where the player in that spot will earn 1.5x fantasy production. You can play any team defense, kicker, or offensive player that fits your roster. The same scoring and format are universal to other sports. DraftKings tends to put these slates out that are centered on games set away from the main format slates and will prop them up for bigger playoff games. It is a unique way to play fantasy sports, but also a way to make a singular game more interesting. DraftKings has not broken into the second half slates yet, but that could be something to keep an eye out for moving forward.

Tiers

DraftKings introduced the “Tiers" slate over the past year, which is a great way to play if you don't have a ton of time, or are on a slate that doesn't present a lot of good options. The game format has six tiers that each feature a selection of predetermined players. You simply choose from each group to create a roster of six players. There is no special scoring within this game format, so you have the same scoring as the main slates. Your lineup will compete against the other users' selections. The tiers generally will be varied between elite, average, and below-average players to select from. There are ways to attack these types of formats by correlating players from different tiers.

Classic

Your classic format is what you have been either playing for years or what they call the standard slate if you are new to the site. This is your basic salary cap format, where a user will need to fill in each spot, all while staying under salary. This mode also contains late-swap, which is the ability to sub out a player with another player as long as both games have not started. The scoring is standard across all sports within this format, although the number of players within the lineup varies.

Step 4 – Draft a Team

Once you've selected the game you'd like to play, you'll be able to draft your players who make up your team. The players available are listed to the left and can be sorted by position. Each player carries a salary, and when building your lineup, you'll need to comprise a roster that doesn't exceed the salary cap. As you build your team, you'll be presented with the remaining salary and average remaining salary dollar amount to spend on each player. Once you're happy with your team, you can submit it. If you're entering another contest and want to use the same roster, there is an easy import button that will allow you to grab your already constructed roster. If you are playing a showdown slate or a tiers game style, you may not see a salary. There are specific game rules to still follow, but a tiers game style is not going to limit you in salary. The showdown slate brings many different ways to play, especially with the Captains spot.

Scoring

It is critical to review the scoring terms on draftkings.com and any other money league websites you use. Scoring structures vary, and your draft should be completely catered to the scoring system of the website you are using. Here is an example of the MLB Scoring. Scoring is one of the bigger ways to make your site unique, and DraftKings does a good job of being different, without going completely off the wall. In football, they have bonuses for 100+ yards on the ground or receiving, and also a bonus for 300+ yard passing games. They have bonuses for other sports like baseball, where they give you fantasy points for complete games, shutouts, and no-hitters. The bonuses are felt in a big way with basketball, as the three-point gives an advantage for heavy three-point shooters. Players also can get bonuses for double-doubles and triple-doubles. If you are playing hockey, short-handed goals are a bonus, and the same goes for hat tricks. Golf has more in-depth scoring, and overall it has become one of the more popular fantasy sports. You move across all four days and are scored on per hole production, tournament finishes, and streaks. Your golfer can get a bonus of three birdies or better, a bogey-free round, and all four rounds under 70 strokes. The overall scoring across all sports is pretty standard and close to what you have played in season long. There might be a few small differences, but the logic is the same.

Step 5 – Withdraw Funds

In order to withdraw funds, you'll start by clicking on the deposit button. When you arrive at the deposit screen, you'll find a withdrawal option on the left-hand side of the screen. Withdrawing funds is simple, and there is a $20 minimum. The withdrawal policy for DraftKings is to first refund the original deposit source with the amount you deposited, and then gamers have the option to choose a check or PayPal transfer to receive their remaining funds. If you no longer have access to the credit card you made your initial deposit on, be sure to contact DraftKings prior to requesting a withdrawal. According to DraftKings' FAQ page, they process withdrawals Monday-Friday from 9 AM ET to 5 PM ET, and once the withdrawal is processed, it typically takes anywhere from 2-7 business days for funds to appear in your account. They also note checks can take up to a week to receive. DraftKings offers payouts via Paypal and check. You can count on withdrawals taking seven business days to receive.
