Is a Heinz a good bet?

A Heinz bet is a challenging bet to win due to the large number of selections that need to win to generate a full payout. So this is only a good bet if you can make six really educated selections. If all six of your selections win the payout is potentially massive.

How does a Heinz bet work?

A Heinz bet starts with a visit to the betting markets where you will need to make six different selections in six separate events. While you don’t need to bet on one sport or one type of market, it’s common for punters to focus on a particular sport or market type when placing their Heinz bet. This is because placing a successful Heinz bet requires a very good understanding of the sport and event being bet on in order to both optimize your chances of winning and get the best odds on each selection. Once all six selections have been made you can construct your Heinz bet. This is very simple at online bookies, as the betting slip will automatically detect that you have made six selections and offer you the option of placing a Heinz bet. At this point all you need to do is decide what you want your base stake to be – i.e. how much you will be betting on each sub-bet. Once you’ve submitted the stake and your bet, you are done. To earn a return on a Heinz bet you will need at least two selections to win their bets. Typically you will need three to five selections to win in order to make a profit from your bet. However, you can earn a profit if fewer selections win, provided their odds are high enough.

Heinz betting strategy

There are two different ways to use a Heinz bet.

The first is to go for lower priced selections in order to maximise your chances of winning your bet. The trade-off for increasing the chances of winning your bet will be getting a relatively modest payout if all of your selections do win and you need more selections to win to make a profit. However, this approach will still pay out significantly more in profits than you’d earn if you simply backed six selections with single bets. For example you could find six odds-on favourites from the day’s racing cards and placed a £1 Heinz bet on your selections.

Assuming each of these horses is priced 1/3:

your bet would generate a £95 profit if all six horses won

your bet would generate a £4.50 profit if five horses won

if two or more horses lose you’d make an overall loss on your bet. If all six horses win, you’ll make a much bigger profit than the £1.8 you’d make on six winning singles. And even five selections winning would earn you a bigger payout than placing singles. A contrasting Heinz betting strategy is to try to build the bet using higher odds selections, for example backing six horses each priced at 3/1 in the win markets. The two benefits here are that you can earn a profit even if fewer bets win, and if all your selections win you’ll get a massive payout. For example, if you were to use a base stake of £1 on the Heinz, and all six of your bets won, you’d net a massive profit of £15543 against your £57 spent. Meanwhile, you’d win:

£3047 with five winners

£551 with four winners

£55 with three winners

Two or fewer winners would earn an overall loss.

Whichever approach you take, always remember that small stakes can get you very far with this bet type. For example a £0.10 base stake on the Heinz above would cost you a total of £5.70. A winning bet at this price would net you a total profit of £1554.30!
