Football fans were left 'heartbroken' as Hesgoal.com pulled the plug on their Premier League and Scottish Premiership coverage. This left thousands in the dark with the owner stating that they need to respect the people who have the official rights to show the games. The site is by far the UK’s most popular illegal live streaming portal for watching sport. But on the weekend of the derby between Manchester City and Manchester United, fans looking for a way to watch the huge clash were left disappointed.

HesGoal was established more than ten years ago.

Since then, it has steadily expanded its user base globally, with more than 40 million monthly visits, according to SimilarWeb. It has proved particularly popular in the UK, where it accounts for more than a quarter of all traffic with live coverage of La Liga, Scottish Premiership and Serie A a mainstay on the website. However, a surprise pop-up announcement revealed this will no longer be the case. It said: "Dear visitors, We decided to stop putting any link of the English Premier League matches on the site 'www.hesgoal.com' anymore.

"Sorry for that but we respect the English Premier League holder's rights."

They then add several links to the official sites of BT Sports, Sky, among others for fans to subscribe to. It is thought that the Premier League has gone to court in the US, requesting CDN provider Cloudflare to help identify the owners of the service.

One person tweeted: "This is the worst news I've had all year."

While another wrote: "A streaming site with ethics?? They’re finished."

This feeling was echoed as further person added: "It’s not long until all the illegal streaming services will be gone, and the broadcasters will take full advantage of it knowing there is no other way to watch games from home, so the prices will rocket. I fear for English fans."

Who is most likely to win the Premier League in 2022?

Manchester City Manchester City are the favorites to win the Premier League title in the 2022/23 campaign. Pep Guardiola's side have finished in first place in four of the last five seasons, and the signing of Erling Haaland means they will have an out-and-out goalscorer leading the line this term. City are still the team to beat.

The Premier League 2022/23 season begins on August 5 and will end on May 28 The campaign will take a break in November and December for the World Cup

Manchester City are the defending champions after winning the title last term

The Premier League 2022/23 season will not be like any other. A mid-season break to make space in the calendar for the 2022 World Cup means the ambitions of teams like Manchester City, Liverpool and Chelsea will be put on hold while their players represent their countries in Qatar. It is not yet clear what effect the pause will have on the Premier League title race, but it adds another intriguing element to what could be a fiercely contested battle. Last season’s title tussle involved two teams, with the chasing pack some way behind. It is no surprise, then, that the sportsbooks believe we are in store for another two-horse race this time around. Six teams are available for odds of +3500 or less, though, which suggests the Premier League title race involves more potential contenders than the equivalent battles in La Liga, the Bundesliga, Ligue 1, and Serie A.
