Let’s look at an example from the 2022 World Cup group stage between Morocco and Croatia. On the three-way moneyline, there are, of course, three options. And if you bet a team on this line and it ends in a draw, you lose your bet.

Croatia wins (+100)

Draw (+210)

With the tie no bet, there are only two options, because the draw will result in either side being a push. That scenario forces you to pay more to back Croatia, and you’ll get a smaller payout if you bet Morocco, because you’re getting that safety net.

On the draw no bet line, you’re getting:

Morocco +185 (compared to +310)

Croatia -245 (compared to +100)

If Morocco wins, your $10 bet turns into $18.50. If they draw, you lose $0. If they lose, you lose $10. Compare that to Crotia, where a $24.50 bet wins $10, a draw ends up in a push and a loss results in a loss of $24.50.

How Are These Lines Calculated?

Calculating the draw no bet line from the three-way line is pretty simple, but it’s easier to do in decimal odds. I’d recommend converting the American odds to decimal odds first, then running the following formula:

(1 – (1 / DRAW ODDS)) * TEAM A ODDS = RESULT

In the case of Morocco, I’ll take the 4.1 (Morocco’s odds to win in decimal odds) and the draw at 3.1 (the draw in decimal odds) and put them into this formula.

(1- (1 / 3.1)) * 4.1 = 2.77 (+177 in American odds)

In American odds, that’s +177, so it’s not far off from what FanDuel has posted at +185. If I want to see Croatia’s price, I’ll run the same formula using decimal odds.

(1- (1 / 3.1)) * 2.0 = 1.35 (-281 in American odds)
