What does EW 1 3 mean?

The odds you get for the place part of your bet, whether for an each-way bet or to be placed bet, are known as 'place terms'. Place terms are used to determine the pay-out of your bet. If you place a bet which is EW (1/5, 3 places) and your horse finishes in the top 3, you'll win your bet.

Each Way Explained

An Each Way (EW, E/W) bet is essentially two separate bets: one for the horse to win, the other for the horse to place in any of the place positions offered in that race. This means you can receive a return on your bet if your selection wins, but also if it just places. When placing an each way bet, you stake an amount on both the win and the place. So if you place £5 each way, you'll be placing £5 on the win and £5 on the place, a total of £10.

How to place an each way bet.

Sportsbook: ensure you tick the E/W box underneath your selection on the betslip You can see that the total will automatically be doubled as it will look at the stake you want to place on each line of your bet. Exchange: you'll need to look for the each way market on that race, if available this will typically be found on the left hand side of the screen.

Place Terms

bets are paid at 5 places

bets paid at 4 places.

The place portion of your bet will pay out at 1/5 of the odds that you took that horse for. Should the horse come first you'll receive the pay out on both the Win and Place portions of your bet. If your horse finished 2nd or 3rd you'll only receive the pay-out on the place section, the win part of your bet will be a loser. What the place terms are and how many places are paid generally depend on how many runners are in the race Please note this may differ for Exchange Markets. Exchange markets will state the exact number of places either in the market title or in the rules.

What is 2 three of a kind in poker?

If two players have Three of a Kind, the highest set wins: so three Tens beats three Sixes. If two players have the same three of a kind, they go to the kicker: whoever has the highest card to go along with their three of a kind wins.

What Is A Three Of A Kind In A Poker Game?

Three of a kind is exactly what it sounds like: a five-card hand in which three of the cards are the same rank. In most poker games, it’s a medium strength hand, and while it can be beat by a straight or a flush , it can also improve in big ways.

How to Get Three of a Kind

Some poker games involve getting three cards at once, and in these cases, you might start out with three of a kind. This is especially true in stud games, and can make it a very strong opening: opponents can only see one card, so they won’t know how strong you are. (Note: in Omaha, the opposite is true: starting with a set is actually weak, because you can only use two of those cards.) In other cases, you’ll start with just one card or a pair and improve to three of a kind when more cards are dealt. In Hold’Em games, starting with a pair in the hole and then improving to three of a kind using community cards is called a set. This is distinct from holding a card that matches the rank of two cards on the board. This is because a set is more likely to improve to a full house than when you hold one card in your hand that matches two on the board: with a set, you need the board to pair just once to give you a full house.
