What does the Bengals +4 mean?

If the Rams are -4, the Bengals are +4; if the Rams are -4.5, the Bengals are +4.5. For a Rams bet, simply subtract 4 (or 4.5) from their score to determine if the bet is a winner. If Los Angeles wins 28-20, for example, a Rams bet is a winner.

There are numerous ways to bet the Super Bowl, and all the options and numbers may be confusing for people new to sports betting. Don’t sweat it. Here’s a quick primer on how to read Super Bowl odds, and once you are ready, read our guide on which sports betting apps to choose and why. Also, get $50 free at betmgm sportsbook just for registering (limited time offer for the Super Bowl). The point spread (often called just the “spread”) is the most common way to bet football. When someone refers the “line” on a football (or basketball) game, they typically mean the spread. The Super Bowl spread, as of Sunday morning, is either Rams -4 or Rams -4.5, depending on which sportsbook app or website you are using. A 23-20 Rams win is a losing Rams bet, because they did not “cover the spread”. For a Bengals bet, add the 4 or 4.5. So if the Bengals win the game or loss by 3 points of fewer, a bet on Cincinnati is a winner. If you bet Rams -4 or Bengals +4 , and the game ends 24-20, your bet is a “push” (a tie), and the amount of your wager would be refunded to your account. Of course, lines can move before kickoff, and the vary between sportsbooks. If you want to bet the Rams, you’d want to find the shortest number (Rams -4 is better than Rams -4.5). If you want to bet the Bengals, you’d want the higher number (Bengals +4.5).

What Does -110 Mean?

Ah, but what about the -110 you see attached to your Rams -4 or Bengals +4 bet?

That is the “vig” or “juice” the sportsbook charges bettors on losing bets. It means that for every $100 you want to win, you have to risk $110. You’re allowed to bet smaller or larger stakes, of course. A $50 bet would have $55 juice attached to it; a $20, $22 juice; and so on. So if want to bet to win $100 on Rams -4, $110 would taken from you account when you place the wager. If the Rams cover the spread, you would be returned $210 (the $100 winnings, plus your $110 investment).

The vig is typically -110 on point spread bet, but it can vary from that number for various reasons.

What is Over/Under Or Total?

The “over/under” or “total” is the second most common to way to bet a football game. The number is a projection of how many total points will be scored in the game. The Super Bowl total is 48.5 at most sportsbooks as of Sunday morning, and you can bet either “over” or “under” that number. If you bet “over”, the Rams and Bengals would have to combine for 49 or more points for your bet to be a winner. For an “under” bet to cash, 48 or fewer points would have to be scored in the game. Again, numbers vary from sportsbook to sportsbook. As we write this Sunday morning, Points Bet is showing 49 for a total, which would be more favorable for “under” bettors than 48.5. The moneyline refers to each team’s odds to win the game with no consideration of margin of victory, unlike the point spread we discussed above. Since the Rams are the favorites and expected to win, a Rams moneyline wager requires risking more money than can be won. The Rams moneyline is -200 on multiple oddsboards. Just as the -110 is explained above, this -200 is based on a $100 bet. If you’d like to bet to win $100 on the Rams to win the game, you’d have to risk $200. Should the Rams win, $300 would be put back into your account (your $100 win plus the $200 you risked). The Bengals moneyline is +175 at most sportsbooks, meaning a $100 bet would earn a profit of $175 should Cincinnati win. Like with the spread, total, or any bet you want to make, you should always shop around various sportsbooks for the best moneyline odds for your bet. If you like the Rams to win the game, find the smallest number (Caesars Sportsbook has -185 Sunday morning, which is better than -200 for a Rams bet). If you like the Bengals, find the largest number (+185 is better than +160).
