What does under 1.0 goals mean?

If you place an Asian bet on under 1.0 goal/point, this means the bet is won if the game ends goalless. If exactly one goal/point is scored, the stake is paid back, and from 2 goals/points or more the bet is considered lost.

Asian total goal bet

The Asian total goal bet is a 2-way bet that provides the option of wagering on whether the total number of goals/points scored is over or under a predefined threshold. Unlike the European variant, there are not only half increments (1.5, 2.5 etc.), but also 0.25, 0.75 and 1.0 increases. What makes this bet special is that for specific outcomes the entire stake or a portion of it is paid back. It must be borne in mind that for Asian over/under bets half increments such as 1.5 or 2.5 are also displayed. In this case, the odds and the evaluation methods are no different from European over/under bets. Asian total goal bets with whole number increments such as “total goals 2 (Asian, over/under, reg. playing time)” pay back the stake if exactly 2 goals are scored during the game. This provides the player with a hedge if precisely the threshold that was bet on is reached. For this reason, the odds are set somewhat lower than in the case of a total number of goals of 2.5. Asian total goal bets with quarter increments are split into two. An Asian over 2.75 goals means that half the stake is bet on over 2.5 goals and the other half on over 3 goals (2.75 is the average of 2.5 and 3). A special feature of Asian bets is that the stake is paid back if exactly the total number of goals/points that was bet on is reached. If in this example 3 goals were to be scored, half of the bet is won (over 2.5 goals) and for the other bet half (over 3 goals), 1.00 is set, i.e. half the stake is paid back. Below are some examples of Asian total goal bets taken from actual practice:

Total goals 1.0 (Asian, over/under, reg. playing time)

If you place an Asian bet on under 1.0 goal/point, this means the bet is won if the game ends goalless. If exactly one goal/point is scored, the stake is paid back, and from 2 goals/points or more the bet is considered lost. In the case of an Asian bet on over 1.0 goal/point, the bet is lost if the game ends goalless. If exactly one goal/point is scored, the stake is likewise paid back, and from 2 goals/points upwards the bet is considered won.

Total goals 2.25 (Asian, over/under, reg. playing time)

In the case of Asian total goal bets with a quarter increment, half the stake is bet on over/under 2 goals and the other half on over/under 2.5 goals. Let’s say someone places a 10-franc Asian bet on over 2.25. Five francs will be bet on over 2 goals and 5 francs on over 2.5 goals. If the game ends 1:1, exactly 2 goals will have been scored. For the first part of the bet (over 2 goals) the stake is paid back. The second part of the bet (over 2.5 goals) counts as lost because only 2 goals are scored. If fewer than 2 goals are scored both bets are lost, and for 3 or more goals both bets count as won.

What does under 5.5 mean in Betway?

A bet on Under 5.5 goals means you predict that both teams score five goals or less. In over/under goals bets, the match never ends in a draw.

Over/under goals betting is a common term you’ll come across on every betting platform. But what does over/under even mean? To bet over/under in a bet means you predict whether the sum of all goals scored in an entire match is higher or lower than the sum of goals indicated on the bet. Practically, a bookmaker provides odds on several possible outcomes for a match in terms of goals. The player predicts whether the total goals scored in the game will be higher or less than what the bookmaker set. For example, if Manchester United takes on Arsenal in the Premier League, a sportsbook has this bet.

Over 5.5 Goals 1.62

Under 5.5 Goals, 2.20

Staking on Over 5.5 goals means you predict that both teams would score a total of 6 goals or more at the end of the match. A bet on Under 5.5 goals means you predict that both teams score five goals or less. In over/under goals bets, the match never ends in a draw. Also, there’s no refund.

Let’s see what over/under 5.5 means.

Over 5.5 Goals Explained

If a bookmaker indicates over 5.5 in a bet, it means you predict that a match will produce six or more goals. Such scores are improbable, and this gives the fixture a high winning chance. Getting such scores would mean one team has strong attacks while the other has weak defences.

Under 5.5 Goals Explained

Usually, football matches score five or fewer goals. Betting under 5.5 goals on a game means you predict that the match will produce five or fewer goals. Only a serious mismatch or great attacks and weak defences on both teams would have a bet loss. But such bets have very low odds.
