Top 10 Best Online Study Tools Every Student Needs in 2022

Every student has experienced pressure from school at some point in their lives. Balancing a full course load, on top of extracurriculars, a social life, and maybe even a part-time job means it’s easy to get overwhelmed and anxious. But thanks to the internet, there is an endless amount of excellent online study tools available to help you get organized, learn more efficiently, and master your study techniques. Here are 10 of the best online study tools for 2022 to help you ace your studies this school year. Quizlet lets you make your own interactive flashcards, as well as search through over 250 million study sets that have already been created. It’s great for revision purposes, whether you need to learn French vocab, Physics formulas, or English quotes. Quizlet makes it easy to share study materials with your peers, and the app version is great for revising on the go! It’s completely free to use – you can access all of its pre-existing resources simply by using the search tool on its website, and you just need to make an account to start creating your own study sets. Named after the part of the brain responsible for memory and learning, HippoCampus offers a fantastic collection of online multimedia resources. It has study materials for thirteen different subjects across multiple different levels of ability, from middle school to college. HippoCampus specializes in visual learning resources: videos, animations, and simulations. This makes it an especially good option for students who tend to find traditional study methods, like reading a textbook and making notes, a bit boring or difficult – and generally speaking it’s just a great way to mix up where you get your learning materials from! Grammarly is all about helping you to write better! Unlike traditional spelling and grammar checkers, it offers you clear explanations as to why you might want to change something – and it also gives you suggestions for making your tone clearer and your phrasing more concise. Grammarly is a program that you can run on pretty much any device, and its corrections and suggestions come up as you type. Grammarly has a few different packages on offer, but its most basic one is free to use (and still excellent!). The MarinaraTimer is named after the tomato sauce you normally find on pasta, and is based upon the Pomodoro Technique of time management. This method essentially suggests that the optimal way to work is in 25-minute work periods, with 5 and 15-minute breaks in between. The ingenious MarinaraTimer has a basic Pomodoro timer, but also offers a Marinara clock (where you can customize your own work-break periods) and a kitchen timer option, for single-period timeboxing. You can share the timers with other people’s computers and devices, which makes it a great and fun option for group study sessions!

Get Revising was created as part of The Student Room to help students improve their exam grades. It’s got some great free tools for building study planners and revision timetables, as well as the option to create fun revision resources, such as flashcards, mindmaps, and quizzes. If you’re doing GCSEs or A Levels, Get Revising also has a great range of easily-searchable past papers for you to practice with! Forest is a full package: adorable, eco-friendly, and it helps you to focus! The idea behind it is simple: it’s an app that you install on your phone; whenever you want to focus on something, you go onto the app and plant a tree; if you manage to stay on the app for the full study session – and therefore stay away from other distractions (hello Instagram and TikTok!) – your tree will grow and become part of a forest. If you leave the app halfway through your session the tree will die. What’s even better is these virtual study trees become real trees: Forest is partnered with Trees for the Future, and users can spend the virtual coins that they earn by growing their forest by planting real trees! Kahoot! lets you make online quizzes that other people can access from their own computers or devices by using a special pin. It’s a great option for making class presentations a more exciting and interactive experience, but these quizzes can also be used to spice up a study session or revise with friends online! Mindomo is an online mind mapping tool that allows you to collaboratively create exciting study resources. Mind maps are fantastic for planning a project with friends or for making visually-stimulating revision tools that guide you through concepts in a clear and memorable way. Moreover, Mindomo is specifically designed with goal setting in mind, making it a great tool for organizational purposes, as well as for revision and studying. It does cost to make an account, but the prices are pretty reasonable (starting at $3 per month), and you can try out all its features on three free mind maps!
