FanDuel Mobile App & Website Review

FanDuel has been perfecting its daily fantasy desktop site and app for a decade now, so it’s no surprise that they have one of the best sites and apps for sports betting.

Mobile App Review Categories

We took a look at some key categories that make or break an excellent sportsbook app:

FanDuel Mobile App Review Summary

Decision Criteria FanDuel Standing Recommended Sportsbook Logging in Needs Improvement Caesars, bet365, theScore Navigation Great FanDuel, DraftKings App Speed Excellent FanDuel, PointsBet, DraftKings Data Density Excellent FanDuel, BetMGM, DraftKings Bet Slip Excellent Caesars, FoxBET

Logging In

How easy is it to sign in to FanDuel?

The ability to log into a mobile sportsbook quickly and easily can make the difference between closing a last-minute wager or not. Unfortunately, FanDuel's Face ID had a fail rate of more than 50% throughout our mobile app testing on iOS. Other apps like BetMGM and DraftKings had similar issues. On the bright side, FanDuel will remember your email address (if enabled) to streamline the logging-in process. FanDuel allows users to utilize two-factor authentication for added account protection and security. Final Verdict: Needs Improvement. FanDuel’s Face ID functionality is unreliable. Caesars, bet365, and theScore offer a more consistent Face ID login functionality.

Navigation

How straightforward is finding and browsing betting markets?

Navigating an app easily and quickly and finding contests is vital for bettors to have a positive user experience. We analyzed navigation in two distinct areas: organization and in-app search.

Organization

When users land on the home screen of the FanDuel app, they can immediately navigate the current promotions from the banner carousel at the top of the page. This provides an easy pathway for those interested in new in-app offers. FanDuel’s home screen lists daily events ordered by relevance and start time. There is also an option to filter between leagues so that users can look at all the day’s events or just those for a particular sport. A key area in which we felt that FanDuel shines was its game-to-game navigation. Users can quickly click from one game to another to review odds and access all the necessary in-game details within league pages. While we thought that the game-to-game navigation for FanDuel outclassed competitors, our team noted an inability to compare betting markets across games easily. For example, with DraftKings, you can see the odds for the First Basket Scorer across every NBA game on a single screen. With FanDuel, a user has to click into every game to get this information. This may significantly frustrate bettors who regularly wager a specific market.

In-app Search

FanDuel launched an in-app search feature in the summer of 2022. The search function can be found in the top-right corner of the app home screen. We found the search function user-friendly and thorough. Users can search by player names, teams, sports, etc. In our testing, a search using the term "Rangers" returned widespread results accounting for all potential intents:

Texas Rangers game for the day

MLB league page (Texas Rangers)

English Championship league page (Queen's Park Rangers)

Scottish Premiership league page (Rangers F.C.)

NHL team page (New York Rangers)

We expect upcoming fixtures for the teams above will also be listed when in season. This is a considerable upgrade to the app's overall navigation. Final Verdict: Great. Overall, FanDuel has a solid navigation structure. Adding a comprehensive in-app search feature puts it on par with top competitors in this category, like DraftKings.

App Speed

How quickly does the FanDuel mobile app update and respond to input?

FanDuel is lightning fast compared to other sportsbook apps. Graphics updated quickly when jumping from screen to screen, adding bets to the bet slip and providing an immediate response to every input. Final Verdict: Excellent. FanDuel offers the best user experience regarding its app's speed and responsiveness. PointsBet and DraftKings fall just short of FanDuel's speed.

Data Density

How many games can you view odds for at once?

For serious sports bettors, the more information displayed on the screen at one time, the better. This enables quicker and more informed decision-making on the app. FanDuel has the best game density compared to other major sportsbooks. Game density is most impacted by design elements such as font size and effective usage of screen real estate to minimize "dead" or "white" space. We tested a variety of sportsbooks on their game density using an iPhone 12 Pro to determine our mobile rankings. Here's what we found:

FanDuel - 5 Games

Tied BetMGM & DraftKings - 4 Games

Tied PointsBet & Caesars 3 Games

FanDuel’s design is effective because the font is big enough to read, and its slim design effectively uses space to fit a lot of games without scrolling:

5 Games 4 Games ~4 Games 3 Games 3 Games

Final Verdict: Excellent. FanDuel’s sleek and practical design offers the most game density of any significant sportsbook app.

Bet Slip

How intuitive and seamless is the bet slip experience?

The bet slip is a sportsbook’s primary way to make transactions. FanDuel has one of the best bet slip experiences in the industry. Here are some of the top features that we noted with the FanDuel bet slip:

It loads quickly with a minimal lag time

Straight and parlay options are in the same view of the bet slip with pre-populated odds A mini bet slip will appear at the bottom of the screen to keep tabs on what is already inputted. The user can scroll through odds and add more bets to the slip without defaulting to a full-screen view. FanDuel does not frame a potential payout of a bet with the included stake amount--making the actual upside clear. For example, DraftKings will say a user is betting $100 to win $190, whereas FanDuel will say a user is betting $100 to win $90. FanDuel only shows what the profit will be in its payout calculations. FanDuel also provides a “My Bets” section in the app where users can track active and settled bets. Here are our highlights:

The negatives:

The view of data is not dense -- you can only see 2-3 bets without having to scroll

The font size is too small to read easily

The positives:

Cash-out accessibility quickly surfaced

Easy access to current odds

Compare Bet slips below:

Final Verdict: Excellent. FanDuel has a best-in-class bet slip feature. Caesars and FoxBET are strong competitors, but we like FanDuel best.

FanDuel Website Review

The desktop site is speedy, sleek, and easy to navigate. On FanDuel's homepage, users can easily find the sport they want to bet on, live markets, odds boosts, and featured promotions (e.g., "Get FREE NFL entries all season long when you sign up") through scrolls at the top and middle of the screen. Everything appears on one screen, so users don’t have to reload pages and have multiple tabs up at once to bet. FanDuel's bet slip experience is very user-friendly, as it seamlessly pops up on the right side of the screen after clicking on a bet. Changing a bet type from straight to a teaser, parlay, or round-robin is easy. The navigation integrates within the sports menu; it’s effortless to find sub-markets like game and player props, head-to-head matchups, and more. However, it could organize markets a little better — FanDuel has separate tables for related markets like a golfer’s odds to finish in the top-five, top-10, top-20, etc. — but that’s a minor quibble for an overall reliable web experience.

FanDuel Cashiering

We haven’t heard of many problems depositing or withdrawing funds from FanDuel. In addition, FanDuel offers an extensive number of options for both depositing and withdrawing money. This flexibility is sure to provide a convenient cashiering experience for most users. One of the advantages of betting at a legal, regulated U.S. book like FanDuel, is that your money is secured. Users have protections in legal U.S. books, so you can rest assured your money is safe. Notably, no current U.S. sportsbook allows deposits or withdrawals with a cryptocurrency like Bitcoin, including FanDuel.

How to Deposit on FanDuel

When new users will be automatically prompted to deposit funds as they make their way through the initial registration process (as outlined above). For existing users, depositing additional funds into a FanDuel account is a very straightforward process:

Step 1. Log in to your FanDuel account

Step 2. Select the "Account" tab in the bottom right-hand corner of the screen (below your current available funds)

Step 4. Choose your preferred method of payment

Step 5. Input the desired amount of money you'd like to deposit

Step 6. Click the green "Deposit $" button

That's it! You've just added more funds to your account for immediate use.

Deposit Options

FanDuel makes it easy for users to deposit money through various mediums. Below is the complete list of depositing options listed on FanDuel's mobile app:

Online Banking

Debit/Credit Cards

PayPal

Wire Transfer

Cash At Counter

Cash with PayNearMe

FanDuel Prepaid Play+

Gift Card

Withdrawal Options

While not quite as many options as depositing, it's still easy and convenient for users to get their money out of FanDuel using the following methods:

Online Banking

Debit Card

Venmo

PayPal

Check

Cash At Counter

Payout Speed

Per FanDuel’s customer support section, the timing of payouts can vary by the chosen withdrawal method. FanDuel specifically notes: PayPal and Venmo withdrawal requests can take up to 48 hours to be approved. However, once they are reviewed and approved, funds will be deposited into your e-wallet within the hour. Prepaid Card withdrawals undergo a similar 48-hour review process. These funds, though, are available immediately upon approval. Online Banking withdrawals will take 3-5 business days to process and hit your account. Withdrawal requests via check could take up to 14 business days to arrive after the request has been approved. Checks will be sent only to the address on file for a user account, so make sure your information is up to date if you select this option.

Spending Controls

Almost all U.S. sportsbooks have ways to promote responsible gambling, including FanDuel. Within the app, bettors can set controls: Time-out: You can have your account closed for a set period, after which it will automatically reopen and let you access it. Time limits : You can set several hours to allow yourself to be on the site daily. Deposit limits: You can limit how much money you can put into your account during a set period. Wager limits: You can limit the maximum amount of money you can wager in a given time.

FanDuel Betting Options and Sports Market Coverage

Sports Market Coverage

As one of the biggest sportsbooks in the U.S., FanDuel has a lot of available markets, including all major sports and most niche ones. Some exceptions, like political markets and props, do not revolve around sporting events, but the options are vast. There are other smaller markets available as well, including leagues within sports. For example, you can bet on various leagues within soccer, like the MLS, Champions League, Premier League, and more. Below is the complete list of sports markets offered on FanDuel:

Football (NFL, NCAAF, CFL)

Baseball (MLB, Japanese, Korean, Mexican)

Basketball (NBA, NCAA, WNBA, Big 3, Eurobasket, Canadien Elite League, New Zealand NBL, PBA, Philippine Cup)

Hockey (NHL)

Soccer (World Cup, MLS, EPL, Champions League, EFL Cup, La Liga, Serie A, Bundesliga, Ligue 1, Liga MX, Nations League, and other international leagues)

Golf (PGA, Euro Tour, Majors, Individual Tournaments)

Tennis (ATP, WTA, Individual Tournaments)

Fighting (Boxing, MMA)

Motor Sports (NASCAR, Formula 1)

Rugby (Aussie Rules, Rugby League, Rugby Union)

Snooker (UK Championship, The Masters, World Championship)

Volleyball (Nations League)

Darts (PDC: Matchplay, World Championship, Players Championship, Women's World Matchplay)

Cycling (Individual Races)

Cricket (ICC World, Indian Premier League, One Day Internationals, Twenty20)

FanDuel does offer some markets that are not found in other books. For example, while most sportsbooks offer odds on a golfer to finish in the top 10 and top 20, FanDuel weekly offers odds of finishing in the top 30 and 40. FanDuel also offers some sports markets that aren’t available everywhere, like the LPGA. Check out FanDuel's sports offerings and intuitive user interface by signing up here

Available Bet Types

FanDuel offers about every legal market in the states they’re located in. You'll find all of the popular, standard bets you can get at any sportsbook, including: App Screenshot Bet Type & Example Spread betting is a bet on a game's margin of victory (the # of points won). This screenshot of a spread bet is located in the "Popular" bet type tab. The New York Knicks must cover -2.5 over the Warriors in a Point Spread at FanDuel. Moneyline betting is when you pick the outright winner of a game or event. In this case, Grizzlies or Timberwolves. New York Knicks are the favorite at -142, with the underdog Warriors at +116 Totals, also known as an over/under, are bets on the number of points both teams will combine to score in a game. Pick either "Over" or "Under" 166.5 for the upcoming Warriors vs. Knicks Summer League game Half Bets or Quarter bets let a bettor treat the first and second half as separate matches. Downloading our app can help you do this with ease. Moneyline, Run Line, and Result bets are shown for just the 1st half (5 innings) of the Yankees @ Red Sox game under the "1st Half" tab. Short for a proposition, Prop bets wager that is not directly tied to the final score or outcome. Player props for individual Yankees and Red Sox players to record a hit is listed under Hits & Runs along the top game menu (along with other prop options) with associated odds for each player. Futures bets are a bet on an event that will be decided in the future (e.g., end-of-season results). FanDuel lists the Buffalo Bills as +650 favorites to win Super Bowl LVII

Same Game Parlay Plus (SPG+) & Odds Boosts

Same game parlays are not necessarily unique among sportsbooks, but FanDuel has put its unique twist on this popular betting option. SPG+ allows users to tie two separate same-game bets into a single parlay. While the difficulty of this parlay increases, that payout potential also significantly increases. This is a fun twist on the same game parlays only available at FanDuel. In addition to increasing your payout odds with SPG+, FanDuel regularly offers some of the best odds boosts. In some cases, their standard odds boost bettors odds for a contest that is better than the true odds probability of a bet result. Users can rely on FanDuel to regularly offer odds boosts tied to significant events. Takeaway: FanDuel has created several unique ways to entice bettors with improved payout odds. From Same Game Parlay Plus to regular odds boosts, FanDuel almost always has something for bettors to get excited about.

FanDuel has established a player prop escalator system that allows bettors to increase their payout potential based on scaling lines. For example, users can bet an NBA player over 5.5, 6.5, 7.5, and 8.5 rebounds at higher prices than the previous line. Or a pitcher to have over 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, or 9 strikeouts, with more considerable payouts for each. Takeaway: Player prop escalators are a fun way for users to customize their experience, and potential winnings, in a way that no other app offers.

Other FanDuel Benefits

Cash Out of Bets In-Game

A popular new feature from legal U.S. sportsbooks is the ability to cash out of a bet while it’s still in progress. FanDuel calls it the “Cash Out” feature. You bet $100 on the Rockies to beat the Dodgers at +200 odds. You’d win $200 if Colorado wins the game outright. If the Rockies lead in the sixth inning, FanDuel may give you the option to cash out your bet (albeit at a lower price) if you don’t feel great about Colorado finishing the game.

Odds Boosts

FanDuel will often boost the odds on specific bets to incentivize players. What’s an odds boost? It’s a better price on a bet than what is offered initially. For example, FanDuel may boost the Tampa Bay Bucs to win the Super Bowl from 14-1 to 20-1. This means that a bet on the Bucs will pay out more should they go on to win the Super Bowl at the end of the season. FanDuel is constantly offering additional bonuses once you’re already betting. Based on your notification preferences, FanDuel will send emails to the address associated with your account and mobile alerts to your phone if you have the FanDuel app.

FanDuel Customer Service

FanDuel’s customer service is available by phone at 646-930-0860 or via the web on live chat. Customer service is also available via email at sportsbook@fanduel.com. If you’re an existing user, include your username in the email for expedited service.

FanDuel Pricing vs. Other Sportsbooks

While sign-up offers, promos, and user experience are crucial factors in selecting a sportsbook, the most sophisticated bettors are often worried about the price. As a savvy sports bettor, line shopping across books is a valuable process to engage in. We've made some of these comparisons for you to help illustrate the value of line shopping, and the best sportsbook for different bet types and sports, on average.

How Much Does "Sportsbook Pricing" Matter?

FanDuel is on the higher end of U.S. sportsbooks in hold percentage, and we’ve also found that they’re often beat at a price in some futures markets like golf. It depends on the specific market, though: For NBA title odds, for example, they offer more superior odds than a bunch of the giant U.S. books. That highlights the importance of line shopping and having multiple accounts; FanDuel is a worthy addition to your sportsbook portfolio. FanDuel is competitive and offers standard pricing for smaller markets like player props. Whereas a book like BetMGM can offer up to -118 on both sides for some props or head-to-head matchups, FanDuel is more in line with DraftKings in offering -110 standard odds.

FanDuel Canada

Things moved quickly in Canada as the Senate passed Bill C-218 and granted royal assent. The Senate passed the Safe and Regulated Sports Betting Act on June 22, 2021. It didn’t take long to keep moving up the legislative ladder; as of Aug. 27, single-game sports betting in Canada is now legal to be regulated on a province-by-province basis. FanDuel is taking its entry into Canada seriously, and a considerable personnel addition just proved it. The FanDuel Group announced that Dale Hooper would join the sports betting brand as its General Manager of Canada. Excitement is built around the launch of major online sportsbooks, including FanDuel, in Ontario in Spring 2022. The FanDuel Daily Fantasy Sports (DFS) platform is available in Canada. It will continue to be an option once major North American sportsbooks launch their single-game online sports betting platforms in the country.
