When did Liverpool last lose 6 in a row at home?

The last time the club suffered more than six defeats at Anfield during a single campaign was in 1937-38, when they lost seven times. However, this is the first time in the club's history that they have ever lost six league games in succession at home.

When Liverpool romped their way to the Premier League title last season, Jurgen Klopp and his players seemed to break a different record every week. But while 2019-20 was full of unbeaten runs and goals, goals, goals, this campaign has increasingly become a list of unwanted statistics for the faltering champions. Sunday's 1-0 home defeat by Fulham was their sixth straight loss at Anfield, leaving them facing a huge battle to get into the top four, let alone retain the title. Naby Keita looks dejected after Liverpool suffered a sixth straight home defeat against Fulham There are now 22 points between Liverpool and runaway leaders Manchester City, although that alone does not tell the full story of their shocking decline. Klopp's men are second bottom of the form table over the last six league games, sitting just ahead of Sheffield United by virtue of goal difference. However, it is their awful run on home soil which has left fans and pundits alike stunned. Here, Sportsmail takes a closer look at the numbers behind their recent struggles at Anfield. Jurgen Klopp shows his frustration on the touchline during Sunday's 1-0 loss at Anfield

HUDDERSFIELD COMPARISONS

Sunday's humiliation against Fulham meant Liverpool became the first Premier League side to lose six home games on the bounce since Huddersfield Town. It was only a couple of years ago, in 2019, that the Terriers managed the miserable feat on their way to finishing bottom of the table with just 16 points. Two seasons ago, the west Yorkshire side lost seven games on the trot at the John Smith's Stadium before finally beating Wolves 1-0. Another loss against Aston Villa next month will see Liverpool match one of the worst sides in Premier League history for consecutive home defeats.

WORST HOME RECORD IN ALMOST 70 YEARS

Six home defeats is also the most that Liverpool have suffered in a league season since way back in 1953-54. On that occasion, they were beaten six times on home soil and were relegated after finishing rock bottom of the league. The last time the club suffered more than six defeats at Anfield during a single campaign was in 1937-38, when they lost seven times. However, this is the first time in the club's history that they have ever lost six league games in succession at home. ANFIELD NO LONGER A FORTRESS

Klopp's players had gone 68 Premier League games unbeaten at Anfield before Burnley inflicted a surprise 1-0 defeat on them on January 21. Since then, Brighton, Manchester City, Everton, Chelsea and Fulham have all left with maximum points and, in some cases, a bit of history. The Toffees' 2-0 victory across Stanley Park last month was their first away win over their bitter rivals in a whopping 22 years, bringing an end to one of football's most appalling derby records. And on Sunday, Scott Parker's men became the first promoted side to win at Anfield since Blackpool triumphed 2-1 way back in 2010. TOOTHLESS IN ATTACK

While Sunday's result against Fulham was the focus, Klopp's players were left with another unwanted record next to their name come full time. Excluding penalties, Liverpool have now had 115 shots at home without scoring, the longest run by a Premier League side at home since Opta records began. Their only goal in this run of six straight defeats was a Mo Salah penalty against City, meaning they are one of only two sides in Europe's top five leagues not to score a goal from open play at home in 2021. Ligue 1's rock bottom side, Dijon, who have lost eight straight league games, are the other. Salah shoots for goal against Fulham, with Liverpool drawing a blank at Anfield yet again

WORSE THAN ROCHDALE, CARLISLE AND CHARLTON

Liverpool were unbeaten at home in the league this season until Burnley rocked up in January, but their form has dipped dramatically since that day. In fact, a 0-0 draw at home to Manchester United four days before the visit of the Clarets remains the only point Klopp's men have picked up on home soil in 2021. That measly return means they have the fewest points of any team in England's top four divisions this year, having picked up just from a possible 21. League One side Charlton and League Two's Walsall both have two, while Rochdale, Carlisle and AFC Wimbledon have all picked up three points at home since the turn of the year.
