Massachusetts State Lottery players all hope to hit the jackpot prize. But some lottery games might be better to play than others. If you simply want to win, a scratch-off ticket like “$500 Frenzy” might be a good option. It has a 1 in 224 odds of winning the top prize. But that prize is $500. Comparatively, some lottery games offer jackpots in the millions — and sometimes billions. For those looking to become a millionaire overnight, see below for some of your best options.

And may the odds be ever in your favor.

Stephen Pereira's had a virtual celebration after winning $10.04 million.

Megabucks Doubler

The game with the best odds of becoming a millionaire is the Megabucks Doubler. But players will need to pay attention to the jackpot prize amount. The jackpot prize has a 1 in 13,983,816 odds, according to the Massachusetts State Lottery website. The jackpot prize varies each week, however. It starts at $500,000. On Aug. 1, the jackpot prize is $14 million, which is the game’s largest jackpot since it launched in April of 2009, according to the lottery. Megabucks Doubler drawings occur every Wednesday and Saturday at 9 p.m. To play, buyers select six numbers from one to 49 either manually or through Quic Pic. Each Megabucks Doubler ticket costs $1.

Lucky for Life

Imagine winning $7,000 a week for life. That’s the grand prize for the game “Lucky for Life.” The jackpot has an 1 in 30,821,472 odds, according to the Massachusetts State Lottery. But there’s also a smaller prize of $25,000 a year for life, which has an 1 in 1,813,027 odds. To play, customers can select five numbers from one to 48 and one “Lucky Ball” number from one to 18. The numbers can be selected manually or through a Quic Pic option. Each “Lucky for Life” ticket costs $2. Joanne Tindle from Salisbury won the $1 million Powerball prize on June 10.

Powerball vs Mega Millions

For those looking to choose between playing the Powerball or Mega Millions, you might consider looking at the odds. Powerball has an 1 in 292,201,338 odds for its jackpot and 1 in 11,688,054 odds for its $1 million prize. Meanwhile, Mega Millions has 1 in 302,575,350 odds for its jackpot and 1 in 12,607,306 odds for its $1 million prize. However, depending on the date, the jackpots can differ considerably. A $1.34 billion jackpot was won in July and the Powerball jackpot was $178 million in the same week.

Keno winners for Massachusetts State Lottery

Keno

Keno drawings have tough odds but there are considerably more drawings.

While players have to wait for Mega Millions or Powerball drawings each week, Keno drawings are about every four minutes on a daily basis from 5:04 a.m. to 1:00 a.m., according to the Massachusetts State Lottery. Players have a 1 in 478,261,833.14 odds of winning the $1 million prize. Those betting, can play the same numbers for multiple drawings for up to 30 consecutive drawings. This strategy has been suggested by some experts. The Massachusetts State Lottery offers a number of games, including Mega Millions, Powerball, Mass Cash, Keno and more.

Scratch-off tickets

Scratch-off tickets have a number of options available for lottery players in Massachusetts. About 70 of them have prizes of at least $1 million, according to the Massachusetts State Lottery website.

There are a few things to note, however.

The odds might not be the best for those hoping to win the $15 million prize from the game “$15,000,000 Money Maker,” which is 1 in 6,048,000 odds. However, the game’s $1 million prize has better odds than the game “Jumbo Cash,” which is 1 in 2,268,000 odds versus 1 in 3,024,000 odds. But if you’re hoping to win the jackpot from the game “Jumbo Cash,” which is $4 million, you have the same odds as winning the $2 million prize in “$2,000,000 50X Cashword” and the $1 million in the game “Electric 7s.” Another scratch-off ticket with lower odds is the game “Fabulous Fortune.” While the odds for the $1 million prize still aren’t in the player’s favor at 1 in 1,680,000 odds, it is much lower than odds for other games, including “$2,000,000 50X Cashword,” “Jumbo Cash” and “$10,000,000 Mega Money.”
