Who has the most elite 8 appearances?

Kentucky U-M's 15 Elite Eight Appearances Are Tied For The 6th Most In NCAA History School Appearances Most Recent Appearance 1. Kentucky 38 2019 2. North Carolina 28 2017 3. UCLA 23 2021 T-4. Duke 22 2019 12 more rows •

There are plenty of ways to debate which program has had the most success in NCAA Tournament history, with some observers immediately pointing to UCLA thanks to the Bruins' 11 national titles, which are more than any other school. Others would be more inclined to tab Kentucky and its all-time best 59 NCAA Tournament appearances as the game's most storied postseason program, or even North Carolina thanks to its college basketball-leading 20 Final Fours. The Michigan Wolverines certainly don't have the game's most storied past when it comes to postseason performances, but are quickly climbing the list after adding yet another Elite Eight appearance to their resume this season. This is U-M's fourth trip to the Elite Eight since 2013, with no program in the sport having made more appearances over that span. It is also the Wolverines' 15th all-time trip to the Elite Eight, which ties them with Ohio State for the sixth most of any school in college basketball history.

The only five programs who have more than the Maize and Blue and Buckeyes are all blue bloods — Kentucky (38), North Carolina (28), UCLA (23), and Duke and Kansas (22). Granted, national titles, national title appearances and Final Fours are obviously all more important than Elite Eights, but making it to the regional finals is nevertheless quite an accomplishment. To further exemplify how difficult it can be to make the Elite Eight, consider this: UCLA's appearance this season is the Bruins' first since 2008, while Indiana — another of the game's most storied programs — hasn't been there since 2002.
